My grandfather had Alzheimer's. I know you're probably thinking...wait but what does that have to do with deodorant??? Hang in there with me for a moment... Anyone who has a relative with Alzheimer's knows how terrible of a disease it is. In some ways its forgiving because you lose the person in pieces before they actually pass away so that by the time you do you've almost been hoping for it just so they get peace, but in some ways its worse because again it can be such a slow slow process and every time you see them you realize they know less and less of what is going on until they barely recognize you anymore. I've always wanted to go out Thelma and Louise style (a hot convertible right off a cliff), so to me, losing myself in pieces would be the worst thing imaginable. So when I read a few studies on how aluminum (specifically in anti-perspirant) was linked to Alzheimer's and dementia, I wanted to ditch my anti-perspirant immediately. Side note: There are multiple conflicting studies on whether or not aluminum is a cause for alzheimer's but for me, I'm not willing to chance it. Here's an article on it from a pretty good source - University Health News.

As soon as I get out of the car I can already smell it and it's one of my favorite scents ever. Lavender reminds me of being at a spa (and that's never a bad memory). Inhaling the scent of lavender is supposed to be calming and soothing and helps you sleep!
So momma cut a bunch of it for me and I brought it home where I quickly realized this smells amazing BUT I have no idea what to do with this. So after some googling and trying out different recipes I settled on...
